About the Builder
Larry and Bonnie Ross were High School classmates and married in 1968. Larry began his career in home-building laying sod. Realizing he had a future in construction, Larry and his brothers began a framing business in Columbus, Ohio. In 1972, Larry and Bonnie moved their two young daughters to Gainesville, where Larry continued his framing business on his own. That success quickly led to his becoming a licensed contractor. One of his first large projects was Rockwood Villas, a student condo development that rapidly sold out and cemented his reputation as a quality builder. Since then, Larry Ross Builders (LRB) has developed numerous communities, including Wellington Place, Blues Creek, and South Pointe, to name a few.

Recognizing the fact that they would not work forever, Larry and Bonnie formed a spin off company in 1996 to be managed by their son Scot and daughter Trina, aptly named New Generation Home Builders. Scot is the general contractor while Trina is responsible for the office, marketing and public relations.

Trina is the older of two daughters and has been actively involved with the family business since the beginning. She and her sister began as the cleaning crew, preparing the homes for the new proud owners. Upon completing high school, Trina enrolled in Santa Fe Community College where she earned an AA degree in business administration. She then attended the University of Florida and in 1992 achieved a BA in business and marketing. She then began her current career as full-time Office Manager and Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the family business.

Scot is the only son, and like his sisters began his career in the family business as a young boy. At the ripe old age of ten he proudly referred to himself as "the clean up man" and also learned to drive a tractor. By his senior year in high school, he was an accomplished framer and served as framing crew foreman. This talent was augmented by his enrollment in a high school program that allowed him to work half days while continuing to pursue his diploma. Scot rose to positions of leadership in various school activities. Now, as the proud father of two sons, Scot plays an active role in their extra curricular activities, including both football and baseball coach. He and his wife Dawn, a licensed Realtor, are involved in their church and various community activities. Scot enjoys playing his guitar and drawing house plans. Scot Ross….always busy, never bored.

Under Scot and Trina's leadership, New Generation Home Builders has grown each year. In fiscal year 2006, the business built nearly 70 homes. Now that the founders of the company are on the verge of retirement, Scot and Trina's roles and responsibilities will increase considerably. Nonetheless, they say " Working with our parents for so many years is our most valued education. Retired or not, they shall remain our mentors and trusted advisors."
